This is a curated selection of 48 people, not the full Mathematics Genealogy Project tree. The close-family view includes Samuel, Ruth Baker, Philip Maini and J. D. Murray. The wider views follow selected earlier branches.
Highlights shows 16 names. A dashed connection and a +n badge stand for the intermediate people, not direct supervision. Select the badge to read the complete chain; “All connections” shows all 48 included people. Several routes may share the same ancestor.
Historical links are different. Early genealogies include teachers, mentors and scholarly study as well as formal degree advisers. They are marked in amber and should not be interpreted as modern PhD supervision. Some early links are inherited from MGP-derived historical transcriptions, rather than independently established here.
Each connection has its own source. The 2019 poster is an archived MGP-derived snapshot; accessible MGP records and academic transcriptions supplement it. The page does not query MGP live. Birth and death dates shown on highlighted historical cards are lifespans, not degree dates; additional date discrepancies are retained in the individual record notes below and in the downloadable data.
Samuel’s entry is based on his Oxford profile, personal website and the Baker Group. No MGP registration is claimed for him. Missing advisers at the ends of this selection do not mean none are known. Biography links describe a person’s work; they do not independently establish every genealogy connection.
